Future plans:
To finish up the fuel system so I can really run it hard and if I start breaking manual transmissions an auto may find it's way in there eventually.
Background:
I originally bought this car brand new back in 2000 never had anything like this planned for the car. I thought I would just do some nice sounding exhaust and call it good... who was I kidding. As soon as the exhaust went on I needed more and the mod bug bit. Within a year I had purchased a cam for it and installed it. This was all back before tuning options were available for the factory computer so the 224 duration cam that I had back then was pretty big for a daily driver and the car was pretty quick for your average LS1 in that time. I raced it against all my friends on the streets, a lot actually and it seemed fairly quick.

Within a year and a half after that I installed heads and nitrous and took it out to the track to see what it could do on a soft launch because I didn't want to break my stock rear end. I ran an 11.8 @ 126 with it and I was happy that it trapped well. By this time I had started to realize that my engine was one of the "unlucky" ones that came out of GM back in mid 2000 with a cylinder over bore issue. It used a quart to a quart and a half of oil every 1k miles and it smoked when I would put my foot into it. Well that just took the fun out of running the car as everybody had something to say about the smoke so I just daily drove it nicely for a year.

The smoke was really starting to bug me and I wanted more power with one of those finagled turbo thingies. I had helped some friends on their turbo projects before and you could say it kind of inspired me to get off my ass, fix my smoking problem, and make a lot more power in the process. I pulled the engine and tore it down only to discover that everything at a first glance looked great. Then I felt the bore of a few of the cylinders and found a couple of out of round spots and flat spots, I guess they just didn't machine the block correctly from the factory. I ordered a built low compression short block, AFR heads, and a custom cam from Flowtech Induction. I got the engine and I dropped it in the car and then ordered the TTi race kit. I installed everything in the garage and just worked on it after work every night. After a few long weeks I got it to the point of where I could drive it around and start to play with it. I originally finished the install in late 05 but have been making improvements ever since. I don't have any regrets and every time I drive the car it's totally worth it. As far as what the future holds for this project, I really need to finish up the fuel system so I can turn it up more and if I decide to turn this from my street car into a drag car than an auto may find it's way in there somewhere. I love banging gears and all but it's hard to deny that the car would run a lot quicker at the track with a trans brake auto. :) For more information and videos go to my website at http://www.gonicd.com (http://www.gonicd.com/)http://www.theturboforums.com/car_images/featurenicd/almostdonecoolerweb.jpg
