Everyone knows that Indians are from India. But Europeans in their erroneous believe that they discovered a new route to India kept calling Natives Indians and the name stuck for a couple of centuries.

Lo que pasa con los negros usando la palabra "niggas" es es el fenomeno de reapropiación. Los "brothers" en USA se han apoderado de la palabra para quitarle fuerza. Entonces las palabras que en el pasado fueron despectivas las empiezan a usar los grupos entre ellos mismos y poco a poco pierde su significado original.

La palabra Yankee era un insulto bien feo que usaban los Britanicos contra los coloniales durante la guerra de la independencia gringa. Pero poco a poco se apropriaron de la palabra y ahora el significado es neutral. Igual como los homosexuales en USA ahora usan las palabras "gay" "butch" y "queer" para referirse a si mismos cuando antes eran insultos.

La clave es que la palabra pierde fuerza solo cuando se usa entre el grupo. Si un gringo le dice a otro "Yankee" no es despectivo, pero hoy en dia si uno de Inglaterra le dice a un Norteamericano "Yankee" todavia tiene un poco de significado negativo (pero no tanto como en el pasado.)

La palabra Nigga cuando la usan los negros entre ellos mismos no es insulto, quiere decir mas of menos como "homie" o "brother" o "friend". Como latino nunca voy a usar la palabra "nigga" con un negro aunque sea conozido o de confianza....pero entiendo cuando lo usan entre ellos mismo no se estan insultando....Otra cosa, dicen "What's up my niggas" porque si dicen "What's up YOU niggas" hasta entre ellos si es insulto.

La mayor concentracion de Indians en USA es California, seguido por Oklahoma y despues Arizona. Texas esta en la octava posicion.

I think my english is below average, I have a lot of issues with spelling and writing. Doesn't matter if it's english or spanish, I suck at both. The only thing that could help me is moving to Hialeah, that way I could learn both at the same time and be fully proficient in spanglish. The one thing I know is that instinct won't make me speak a language just because, I'm not that dumb.

Duh, they called it "west Indies" cut the Europeans, specially the Dumbass Spaniards took them a long time to recognize that we weren't India or related to the Hindus. That's why when it has pretty obvious that the new continent had not related to India. They decided to give it a name, new name.
Did you know that we are named after an Italian geographer named Amerigo Vespucci?
And the name America was in error because they could pronounce Amerigo name correctly?
